• On the Tanzanian coins, there may be pictures of these animals: Indo Pacific Sailfish, African elephant, prancing zebra, seated rabbit, walking ostrich, running giraffes, black rhinoceros, African buffalo (Cape buffalo), four Impalas or two lions. Also, there may be portraits of Julius Kambarage Nyerere and Ali Hassan Mwinyi and the first President of Zanzibar – Abeid Amani Karume.
